A Lifeline Before Drowning are:

A Lifeline Before Drowning was formed in 2005, after several name and line up changes. It all started when bassist Renske and drummer Jeroen found each other via the Internet and started to jam together. This co-operation worked very well from day one, and they started to look for a guitarist. He was found soon after that and the band was complete when Ramón was found. Renske & Ramón started to write songs together and laid down the basis for the sound of the band, namely a sound rooted in post punk. The old guitarist didn’t fit that sound and what the band set out to do, so guitarist Bas replaced him. In Bas they found the guitarist who perfectly fits the sound and the ambitions of the rest of the band.

With the newfound guitarist added to the band, the name was changed into ‘A Lifeline Before Drowning’. A name that goes well with the energy, and the ambition the band has and the emotion that the band puts into their music.

With a newfound energy, the band started to work on new material and recorded a demo called ‘Bittersweet Decay’ in 2005. On this demo you can hear what A Lifeline Before Drowning are capable of. Namely, writing rock songs with a strong groove, an edge and melodies that you can’t get out of your head. The band is influenced by and gets their inspiration from bands such as Joy Division, the Smiths, Maxïmo Park, Bloc Party and Interpol, but they give it their own twist. The first shows were played in the beginning of 2006 and were received with great enthusiasm. With their own enthusiasm, tight playing, and a good live show, A Lifeline Before Drowning knows how to win the audience over and is ready for the future. A promising one, they all hope!
