Shield Recordings update June 2008

In our last update we promised an update with new bands, new releases and more. So here we go:

- Atlas Losing Grip, the Hunger and Smash the Statues join Shield Recordings.
- Shield Recordings to re-release Antillectual’s debut album on LP and CD.
- New records in the Shield Recordings webstore.

Atlas Losing Grip, the Hunger and Smash the Statues join Shield Recordings.
As said above we are very, very proud to announce 3 new bands on our label, in order of release date they are:

Atlas Losing Grip – Shut the world out CD.

The first new band on Shield Recordings is Atlas Losing Grip from Sweden. Atlas Losing Grip started out in 2005 playing melodic punkrock in the vein of Adhesive, Venerea, Satanic Surfers and Good Riddance to name a few. After a few line-up changes they found a stable line up and recorded their first full length record called “Shut the world out”. The album is produced by Mattias Persson – sound engineer of Satanic Surfers and Venerea – and contains guest appearance of Rodrigo Alfaro – vocalist of the Satanic Surfers – on 3 songs. The release date of the new 13 song debut full length is set on august 29th. The Hunger CD/vinyl.

The Hunger is a relatively new hardcore band from the north of the Netherlands. Their sound can be best described as extremely heavy hardcore with a rocking twist. Influenced by bands as integrity, Ringworm, Cursed, Converge, Entombed and much, much more, you surely can get an idea.
The Hunger recorded six songs with Nico van Montfort (www.myspace.com/xpzsound) a few weeks ago. Currently the songs are in the process of mixing and mastering.
Shield Recordings will release the new recordings as well on CD as on vinyl (it will be a 10” or 12”). More info about the release and release date will follow as soon as possible.

Smash the Statues – second full length coming up.

That’s right our third new signing is Smash the Statues. For those of you who don’t know:
Smash the Statues are a melodic hardcore punk band which plays music in the vein of Strike Anywhere, Rise Against, Dag Nasty and the alike.
After the release of their debut album “Against the stream” Smash the Statues played shows all over Europe, received great reviews and made lots of new friends.
Smash the Statues will enter the studio for a week in August to record their second full length.
The release of this record (on both CD as LP) is set for the fall of 2008. More info and the exact release date will be announced as soon as possible.

Shield Recordings to re-release Antillectual’s debut album on LP and CD.

The latest announcement of this press release is the re-release of an album of which we’ve been fans of since it was released in 2005, Antillectual’s debut full length “Silencing Civilization”. “Silencing Civilization” original was released by Angry Youth Records and we are very pleased that Peter gave us a go to put out this re-release.
“Silencing Civilization” will be released by Shield Recordings, for the first time ever, on good old vinyl and on CD.
