v/a - MTV2 Headbangers Ball Volume 2
posted by: David on 27 September 2004

Roadrunner
If you were wondering how popular the metalcore genre is nowadays (including mathcore and the New Wave of American Heavy Metal), here’s your answer. The new Headbangers Ball compilation features 40 bands, of which 18(!) are among the genres I mentioned before. Which bands? Killswitch Engage, Atreyu, Shadows Fall, Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb Of God, Unearth, God Forbid, The Agony Scene, Bleeding Through, Trivium, Himsa, The Black Dahlia Murder, Every Time I Die, Blood Has Been Shed, Eighteen Visions, All That Remains, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Martyr AD. It’s good to see so many bands surfacing from the underground, so all those lazy MTV viewers can listen to something else for a change. On the other hand, let’s see how long the hype will last. In the meantime I’ll give this great compilation another spin.
