The Lulabelles - As the world turns

I Scream

I Scream records just keeps on surprising with their musical roster. After exceptional bands like The Heartaches, Judasville and The Ducky Boys, it's The Lulabelles this time that got signed for a full-length. I never heard of this band before even though it's a Dutch one and were formed in 1998. The band consists out of 3 girls and one guy and they play simple but catchy punkrock mixed with some pop-elements. "As the world turns" contains ten songs of their own and a Bangles cover ("Manic Monday"). Not bad, but not outstanding either. The good: tightly played, harmonious songs with fine chorusses, good female vocals and a reasonably well production. The bad: corney lyrics, the overall sound is so sweet that it sometimes comes off as being somewhat whiney and in the end it tends to get a little boring. An average release.

	ik mag deze band wel, de keren dat ik ze heb gezien klonk het allemaal goed en zag de stage-act er ook cool uit.

	Keer mee gespeeld en in Rotterdam zijn het zeker geen onbekenden. De plaat klinkt solid en de live performance is goed.

	Ben stiekem best wel benieuwd naar dit plaatje. Maar alleen stiekem dan.

	Ik vind het sucken. Dat vind ik al jaren. Verder niets tegen ofzo.
