Open Hand - You And Me

Somebody call the newspaper, because something incredible has happened: I actually like an emo album! And I know exactly why that is. It’s because Open Hand has a guitar sound that shows a lot of resemblance to Black Sabbath. Just listen to the first notes that hit you of the first song “Pure Concentrated Evil”, “Tough Guy” or “The Ambush”: it’s like Sean Woods is actually Tony Iommi’s son or his cousin at least. But don’t expect “You And Me” to be a complete stoner record or something, because it isn’t. I’m not too familiar with Open Hand, but apparently they started out as a screamo band. There’s not much left of that past, because this is a blended mix of emo, rock and a pinch of stoner. So there’s something here for everyone. It’s definitely something that is different and more diverse that the usual stuff and I guess that this was the way Open Hand meant it to be. Three songs (“Tough Girl”, “Take No Action” and “Waiting For Katy”) are duets that singer Justin Isham does with three female vocalists. Diversity is the keyword here. Unfortunately for me, the Black Sabbath sound is not everywhere, so I’m only into a couple of these songs. But hey, if I like it, all you emo kids wil definitely like it!

	Vond de vorige plaat wel okay Dit klinkt op het eerst gehoord beter... moet er toch nog ff aan wennen.... tik em wel op de kop als ik em tegen kom

	vorige cd was stukken beter... jammer want dit vind ik persoonlijk commerciële brol... (in hoeverre je releases van roadrunner commercieel kan noemen uiteraard)... :-)

	Ik moet zeggen dat deze plaat beter wordt als je hem vaker luistert. Hoewel, met de hele softe nummers kan ik nog steeds niks...

	ik vin deze plaat echt tering goed!! deze plaat is echt VEEL beter dan de vorige. Ze zijn echt goed vooruitgegaan. Hele coole gitaarriffs enzo, et rockt als een gek!

	Wat een fucking coole plaat! Heb hem een paar dagen geleden ontdekt, echt hard. Ik vind het trouwens niet zo emo... Eerder psychedelisch... Wat doet die band in godsnaam op trustkill?

	ik moet zeggen ik heb het album nog niet geluisterd, maar wel wat op een e-card geluisterd en toen dacht ik 'okay, boooring'. Vorige album, The Dream, heb ik wel en vind ik denk ik beter. Maar die was al niet zo boeiend eigenlijk. Maar dit album krijgt goede kritieken dus misschien moet ik het toch maar eens goed gaan beluisteren (nuttige info)
