Grenouer - Try

Own release

Russian bands also find their way into the Asice mailbox. I think I have the honour to review the first Russian band on Asice.net (editorial note: no you don't, check this review and this one). Grenouer started out in 1992 and after releasing four albums this is their latest mini album. Started as a death metal band they slowly wanted to add something extra to their sound. They describe it as modern tech metal but I don’t hear that in these three songs. Pick the voice of Dan Weyandt, the hooks of a modern metalcore band and mix this stuff with the brutal nu-metal of Slipknot. Sometimes an annoying cleaner vocalist wants to show his talent and I can tell you it’s better that this dude shuts his mouth. The music is okay and the sound is pretty rough (which is a good thing) but why should a Dutch boy or girl listen to a Russian act while there are plenty of better bands in the Netherlands and surroundings? I expected a lot more from a band that already has four albums out and pretends to play modern tech metal.
