Two of the better bands of the last decade team up for a split release. Modern Life Is War and Kill Your Idols played a set on the WLUW radio station in Chicago and this seven inch documented five songs of this session. Modern Life Is War did “Late Bloomers” from their debut album and covered “Nervous Breakdown” from Black Flag. The sound quality is not that good (especially the vocals are a bit too much in the mix) but it’s cool for the fans that the Black Flag cover is on this release. For a real fan this fact is the reason to buy it.
Kill Your Idols started their side with a contest how much the proper weight is of Kill Your Idols. They continued with the tracks “Fur Is For Fucks”, “Dread” and “Goodbye My Love, Hello My Friend”. The sound quality is significantly better than the Modern Life Is War side and the fast oldschool hardcore with also a dot of melody in “Goodbye My Love, Hello My Friend” made an energetic impression on this piece of vinyl. For Kill Your Idols fans this EP is also worth buying it. They also get the flyer of the radio show that’s included in the package. A nice addition to this split release.
