Car Bomb - Car Bomb

posted by: maurice on 7 October 2006

Own release

This three track demo from New York's Car Bomb is already more than one year old but still relevant to give it a review. Ex-members of Neck and Spooge play a blending mix of dissonant hardcore/metal and they will be teaming up with Burn By the Sun for a split 7" on Relapse Records this fall. Concerning the hyper fast opener “Rid” and follow up “His Eyes” they are a decent partner on this split. “Rid” clocks in less than one minute and could be described as a Discordance Axis song with a different vocalist while “His Eyes” combines Meshuggah parts with insane and dissonant mathcore riffs. Flowing from heavy breakdowns to spastic parts this song also impresses with the hellish screams of Mike Dafferner. In the last one “Solid Grey” he also thinks he can handle normal vocals and even introduce a sort of rap part. A failed experiment because it just sound like cheesy nu-metal.

If new songs will follow the direction of the first two songs on this demo than the split and the debut album (scheduled for early 2007) could be a real car bomb.
