The ice age has come to an end. Thank you all for your support over the years. It's been fun, but it's time for someone else to take over. Head over to SWNK for your daily dose of hardcore music. While you're there, check out the interview with the founders of Asice.net. - David

A Day To Remember - For Those Who Have Heart

posted by: David on 22 February 2007

Victory

A Day To Remember has mastered the art of mixing styles. The first twenty-five seconds of opener “Fast Forward To 2012” make you believe that the band plays pop punk, but right after that the metalcore with a lot of mosh is unleashed. They call it pop-mosh and that’s exactly what you’ll get. If someone had told me beforehand that this combination would work, I would have probably laughed at the thought, but it works! For me, that is, because I’m sure that there are a lot of people out there that don’t want to hear a combination of styles, but instead prefer one style done right.

What I like most about this band is the diversity that singer Jeremy McKinnon shows: he can sing melodic stuff (and I mean Billy Talent-melodic, not Killswitch Engage-melodic) but he has a phenomenal growl as well. Sometimes the two vocal styles switch very quickly, so I’m curious how Jeremy will perform live.

“For Those Who Have Heart” is an album that will please everyone who likes to get their aggression out, but also likes melodic stuff and nice vocals. A Day To Remember will probably be too emo for the average hardcore kid, but I like it. Nice record!

Ik trek dit album zeer goed.
Mischien niet zo goed als het debuut maar dit gaat zeker mijn jaarlijstje halen.
Iedereen mag al wel eens zondigen hé .

@RFTK :
Ik vind hem beter als deze.
De extremen komen beter in de verf op die schijf.
En dat prachtige Emo nummer "you had me at hello" staat erop .

De hele plaat valt me een beetje tegen toch. NET te veel poppy, het openingsnummer is wel geniaal.
