Taken Under - Silence Your Enemies

posted by: Duncan on 21 May 2007

High Fidelity

Silence Your Enemies is the new EP by Taken Under from from Nashville. Although I must say considering the quality of the recordings I would have labeled this as a demo. Especially track 2 sounds awfull. But let's forget the recordings and focus on the songs. Taken Under plays mosh. But not the standard chuggah chuggah metalcore most bands play these days. Rather think of bands like Full Blow Chaos, Terror and Clenched Fist. These 5 songs are not renewing or inventive in any way whatsoever. Taken Under took the before mentioned bands, put them in a blender and this is what they ended up with. Although the production sucks these tracks do sound raw, energetic and real. Just like Cast Aside did on their EP did for instance. Maybe Taken Under isn't renewing, and maybe this is by far the best release in this genre... for some reason the songs stick inside my head and I think this is an "enjoyable" album. Which sounds kinda strange considering this is an hardcore album. Nevertheless I do think that this band has got potential and I will try to keep an eye on them...
