Another Kind of Death is coming from Spain and is one of the first bands over there that combined metalcore with the noisy and chaotic stuff bands like Zao or Norma Jean are known for. They started out five years ago and 'Sleepless Every Night' is already their second album (they were also featured on a four way split). On this album you hear that these five Spanish guys matured a lot with their sound.
Mostly bands from countries like Spain, Portugal or Italy are a few steps behind in terms of maturity if you compare them to the settled names but I am pretty surprised about the skill level of these boys. You’ll get ten songs in less than a half hour which means they have written compact songs. Heavy and chaotic but catchy as fuck (“Long Distance Vision” or “Spitfire”) with in the midst of the record the melancholic intermezzo “…And I Chose You From Dead”. After this they keep pounding without becoming long-winded.
Sure, what Another Kind of Death does isn’t original but they do it with 100% conviction. Watch out Norma Jean or Zao! Nevertheless, they would be the perfect support act when Norma Jean or Zao will do a European tour.
