Revolt

Holy crap, 26 bands, 68 songs and 77 minutes of hardcore, grindcore, crustcore and all in between is a long road for all you tiny ears out there. Also: respect to those who can listen to this compilation till the end.

The first three bands on this compilation mostly play a rough version of eighties (early and the end of this decade) hardcore. Later on the the grindcore comes in with Krupskaya as the first highlight. The freaky and chaotic grindcore has a huge Brutal Truth content transferred to a 2008 sound. Next up is Yattaï that brings you grindcore in the early Discordance Axis style. I don’t have to tell you I loved those songs.

Because this compilation is compiled by Teriak records from Indonesia there also a lot of Indonesian and Malaysian bands on it. Mostly they are stuck with the worst production so it’s difficult to judge their songs on this compilation. Alchemy of Sickness’ vocalist gets the price of the most annoying voice; this Malaysian guy sounds like a chicken being roosted alive.

The Fantastikol Hole from France brings you drum computer grindcore in the tradition of Agoraphobic Nosebleed. The unexpected breaks in the songs give their style an interesting twist. The Dutch freakcore guys of Triad81 (RIP) are also present on this compilation; they’ve added two songs from their album to this compilation.

Then it’s time again for a bunch of Asian bands and again they all can’t convince me with Total Banxat as the worst band on this compilation. Okay, I know all these bands can’t afford good and experienced recording studios but at least they could play a bit tighter and make songs that crush.

From the Netherlands is the straight forward punk/hardcore band (also with Motörhead influences) New Reality that’s boosting up this compilation on the end. The last five bands end this compilation with raging grindcore and crustcore. Not bad but too average to make a difference. The last band Obsesifxkompulsif is an exception, these Indonesians made me laugh. The intro starts with “Ladies and Gentlemen this in Nirvana” and the intro tune of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” comes in. Within seconds the song is turned into fast hardcore with funny shrieking vocals. They’ll end the disc with a Vitamin X cover on high speed. Nice!

Shouts out to the drawing on the front cover from Nangco, who has drawn a rancid guy. Typical grindcore of course, the small boy in his mouth gives it a different disgusting view.
