Hesus Attor - Sonic Gastronomy Volume 1

The fascinating paintings of eccentric faces and a mad butcher of illustrator Morka (check his MySpace) for more paintings) drew my attention at first when I had ‘Sonic Gastronomy Volume 1’ in my hands. The artwork and the album title are the perfect introduction of the music that’s served by four lovers of fast food and the local cuisine from Rijeka, Croatia. (as Moonlee’s saying it in the biography).

Hesus Attor created an exotical potpourri ranging from mathcore to the avant-garde metal of Mr. Bungle and a less hectic version of Fantômas. If the information that Hesus Attor is from Croatia wasn’t available, I would have believed this was the new project of Mike Patton. It’s clear he and these Croatian dudes share the same passion for unconventional music. Hesus Attor also uses traditional Balkan music as an ingredient for their overall sound. In “Petrosimul” these outings sometimes give you the feeling you’re attending a Balkan beats party. Don’t think these thirteen songs are easy to digest, no way. If you want catchy grooves and beats you won’t have a good day with Hesus Attor. If you’re into the experiment brought with a smile you are on the right address with ‘Sonic Gastronomy Volume 1’.
