Trash Talk - s/t

Reflections
Trash Talk is releasing records with the speed of light. Last year they unleashed Walking Disease upon mankind and at the dawn of the year 2008 they returned with a relentless follow-up entitled Plagues. They started to gain more and more attention and got signed by Reflections Records. The old world hardcore kids were confronted with their live mayhem for the first time during the early summer of this year. The epidemic had clearly spread across the continent, since kids from everywhere went berserk. Now is the time to solidify their name as one of the most promising acts out there. And they certainly do.
Their new record is released on 12” vinyl and cd, produced by the almighty Steve Albini and brings the Trash Talk vibe we already know of the previous efforts in a new way once again. Displaying the same acoustic qualities of the average Shellac record, the typical organic Albini sound fits the album perfectly and makes the record sound as a harmonic continuation of songs. The music itself is harsh and back to basics. Primitive, but it hits the target like a sniper. The anger screams out of every corner of the sonic spectrum and eleven songs have passed before you know it. In a way, the songs are more conventional than those on Plagues. Bringing to mind references such as Mind Eraser, a label like power violence is readily available to describe Trash Talk’s music by, but somehow it doesn’t fit the band wholly. One way or another, they even remind me of political grinders Terrorizer at times. But first of all, Trash Talk plays hardcore. It sounds urgent as fuck and pissed as hell. I think that’s all you need to know.

KANKERHARDE PLAAT!
My mind is numb. My body is empty. All pieces moving. Nothing fitting. Heat from below. Holes in the sky. Hard luck. Life sucks. Birth. Plague. Die. OEH! |

| Dit vind ik wel zo'n overgewaardeerde band, plaat is aardig maar niet meer dan dat. |
