xTackleberryx - Reinventing Appetite for Destruction

All of you know the legendary debut album ‘Appetite for Destruction’ of Guns N’ Roses. The title ‘Reinventing Appetite for Destruction’ is not the only reference to the legendary band from Los Angeles. On the front cover is a drawing of a pigeon that wears a black top hat just like Slash did. If you look to the song titles “Ain’t No Glam At Eight Am” and “Group Sociology, Lesson One” you can directly draw a line to the terrible state Guns N’ Roses came in after only Axl Rose was left in the band.

Musically xTackleberryx has nothing to do with Guns N’ Roses hardrock and also has no comparison with one of the funniest characters from the Police Academy films. These Germans just play fast hardcore punk with high pitched vocals incorporated. In the eight songs you hear a lot of melodic guitar lines and linking this with the fast hardcore punk you can compare them to Paint it Black. Although it has a lot of melodic stuff in it it never gets lame. Due to the energy and aggression captured in less than a quarter this mini album (last year they also released a complete album) isn’t only suitable for the hardcore kid that wants his music punky and melodic.

The hints to Guns N’ Roses are not the only humor; the five guys also don’t take it too serious with the song title “Modern Wife is Law”. This side is notable in a scene where normally everybody just takes everything too seriously.
