Keep It Clear - s/t

Well over a year ago, I released their demo tape on this side of the Atlantic Ocean and around the same time, Not Just Words Records signed a deal with them for 7". Two weeks ago I found the 7" in my mailbox and it hasn't left my turntable yet.

Keep It Clear still makes old school hardcore with a thick and heavy sound. Think of a mix of Carry On, Floorpunch and Right Brigade. The solid production on the 7" really helps them a lot; it all sounds more powerful now. On the 7", 8 songs are present; one of them is a rerecorded track of the demo. I think both musicwise and lyricwise they have shown a lot of progression, this is very noticeable in the new tracks.

My highlights are the songs 'Alone' and 'See It My Way'. The first one because it was by far the best song of the demo and with an even better production it sounds truly amazing, the second song because of the great lyrics and the exciting structure of that song.

Another thing that needs to be mentioned is the artwork, simple black and white but I don't think a full colour sleeve would have suited this release. The print quality is excellent; a thick sleeve with a glossy finish and even the inside is nicely printed black to make it look even classier. The vinyl is housed in a matching black inner sleeve instead of the normal white one and a huge fold out lyric sheet is the cherry on the cake.

This year is only halfway trough but I think it is safe to say this is year list material. Anyone who liked the demo will love the 7". Be sure to pick it up, it also comes with a download code, so you can also conveniently listen to the songs on your iPod.

Mochten er kids zijn die zich afvragen wat leden van Go it Alone zijn gaan doen, hier is het antwoord ... niet echt een muzikale vergelijking trouwens.
