Own release
Female-dominated, Miami-based Shroud Eater was born out of pure devotion for everything heavy, fuzzy, dirty, pounding and rocking. This first release -recorded by Raul Valentine, mixed and mastered by Torche's Jonathan Nunez- features three songs to warm you up. Sludge and stoner with an alternative nineties feel, that's what you get. Imagine a crossbreed between The Melvins, Iron Monkey without the screaming and The Jesus Lizard and you're close to what this threesome sounds like. The opener 'We are Beasts', with its pounding rhythms and riffs and Jeannie Saiz' raw vocals, is by far the best song. While 'Vesuvius' lacks some of the momentum showcased in 'We are Beasts', the last song -'Cyclone'- is the one that impresses the least, simply due to the fact it's an instrumental. All in all, Jeannie Saiz, Janette Valentine and Felipe Torres make you eager for more.
