Starve - Promo MMX

Farts from vegans are always filthy and so is the music of this Dutch vegan sludge band. Starve brings you four tracks in the vein of Eyehategod and Iron Monkey with the same monotonous vocals. Also included is an ugly atmosphere, as it should be with a sludge band.

The four songs are the first ones the band wrote and recorded and they are a decent start for Starve. They have a swampy groove, the right riffs but I still think the recordings can be filthier and the songs better. Also the vocals are too monotonous, a bit more variation is necessary on a possible next full length.

The two songs I dig the most on ‘Promo MMX’ are “Homesick” because of the groove and “Einzelgänger” because of the dead-end feeling it gives you. Hopefully Starve isn’t on a blind alley, I think they will only get better and better. I don’t know if you can buy this promo or if it will be released on tape.
