Land of Mordor - Still Awake...

posted by: maurice on 11 March 2010

Own release

Land of Mordor is the type of band you will refuse when you receive a friend request on your Myspace. The Spanish band got their name from the evil empire from J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' but will never be evil; instead you’ll think you are in a fairyland.

'Still Awake…' is an EP after their debut album of 2003. They make a mixture of Power Metal, Folk and Black Metal (did anyone say Cradle of Filth?) with annoying keyboards and ditto female vocals in the single 'A Kiss of Hope'. This song is twice on this disc, the long version and the single version; double pleasure maybe for someone, for most of us double irritation.

The best description I can make is Land of Mordor is mixing Children of Bodom with Cradle of Filth on a lower level. When the band is on speed the fast keyboards are getting on your nerves and when the blast beats are kicking in they aren’t playing tight making this record an unpleasant half hour.

This is definitely not the type of Metal you want to hear. Also a CDROM part is made available with a biography and background info on the musicians. I think they should focus on the music instead of making this kind of info available.
