Grind Inc. - Lynch And Dissect

posted by: maurice on 6 July 2010

Bastardized

Even though 'Lynch and Dissect' is their fourth album, I never heard about Grind Inc. before this release. But with this record, Grind Inc. shows that brutal technical Death Metal also exists in Germany. Hinting towards Suffocation or Dying Fetus, Grind Inc. can't do wrong with fans of this genre.

For this type of death metal an album length of thirty, thirty-five minutes is long enough. Grind Inc. should've better skipped one or two tracks since they can't keep the attention of the listener for the full forty three minutes of the record. Therefore, only the beginning of the record is totally overwhelming; the latter part of the record no longer compares to the likes of Suffocation and Misery Index.

The first songs “Stillborn Paradise” and “Lynch And Dissect” are the most raging and catchy babies of Grind Inc. The slower song “Praise the Light” might be a change in the sound; still this one can’t keep my interest because nothing really interesting happens. Next up “Unasked Heirs” has a hint towards hardcore beats and the groove Misery Index is also known for. This is definitely the highlight of the ‘B-Side’ of the record.

The monotonous grunts of Christoph Mieves are backed up by the screams of Björn Goosses in “Forced to Consume” and that’s a wise decision because I'd already had my share of the standard grunts. The last song “The Debate from Within” also doesn’t add much to what was already said and done by Grind Inc. on this fourth album...
