The Blackout Argument from Munchen are apparantly great fans from The Breakfast Club. They use a lot of samples from that movie in their album Detention. It fits the theme of the title, but of course I expect more from a record than just cool samples.
But The Blackout Argument understood that perfectly. No, this is not the best posthardcore record in years, but it's one above mediocre. Having a vocalist that has a strong range is a great advantage. Although this forces a weakness as well, as it makes them a bit too undetermined at times. Sometimes they doubt too much between melodic and heavy parts and they shift from the one to the other, to make sure they have them both. While they would benefit from a better balance between those characters. Detention is nevertheless a strong record, with a band that prove themselves as worthy songwriters. They're no BoySetsFire or Story Of The Year yet, but if they can keep on evolving they're the perfect European counterweight for the aforementioned bands.
