Vision - Detonate

I Scream

Damn, it's been a long time since I heard something from Vision. This New Jersey hardcore outfit has been around since '87 and albums like "In The Blink Of An Eye" (1987) and "The Kids Still Have A Lot To Say" (1997) really made me love this band. In my eyes they succeeded in making a perfect blend of straight up hardcore and punkrock. "Detonate" is the follow up to 2002's "Watching The World Burn" which was released on Epitaph. For some stupid reason I never picked up that previous record, but well..I'm glad they're still around. "Detonate" didn't really turned out to be what I hoped for though. It contains 13 solid hardcore songs which don't make it a bad record, but unfortunately it just can't live up to those classic albums I mentioned before. Most of the songs just miss the great melodic touch and have this raw edge to it that I don't like. Besides that, there are some horrible sing-a-longs that bore the shit out of me. The lyrics are good though and there are still a couple of fine tunes that are worth listening for sure! Nevertheless, on the whole it's just a little dissapointing to me. Maybe I was expecting too much?

	Lou, deze plaat had bij mij ook een aantal luisterbeurten nodig, maar werd op den duur steeds beter.
