The Stranglers are one of those bands that I only knew by name, so I wasn’t familiar with their music. I expected some early seventies punk rock, because these guys have been around since 1974(!). But to my surprise, The Stranglers don’t sound like their fellow early punk rockers at all. In fact, with their keyboards and mellow songs they sound more like a new wave band than a punk rock band. “Norfolk Coast” is the first studio album of The Stranglers in five years and it took them almost two years to write, record and finish it. They polished every detail on the album and that’s probably why this record sounds very balanced. I can’t point out a song that sounds like it’s not completely finished yet, everything fits well into the big picture. “Norfolk Coast” is an album for the small hours, to dream away on late at night. So dream away with The Stranglers!
