Said And Done - Endless Roads

Shield

I love it when everything fits in an album concept. Said And Done succeeded in their concept for their 7”/MCD ‘Endless Roads’. All the pictures used in the booklet were taken during the band’s trip to Spain in February of 2007. The title comes from the song ‘Into The Distance’, which was also written during that period. But most importantly, it fits the road that Said And Done has travelled until now. They’ve grown as people (no pun intended, Pim!) and as musicians.

‘Endless Roads’ continues where ‘Everyday’ left off. The style that Said And Done plays hasn’t changed much, it only matured. Think of grooving NYHC with some metal twists here and there. Opening track ‘Into The Distance’ really kicks off this release nicely. In three minutes you get all ingredients that Said And Done stands for: fast stuff, slow stuff, aggressiveness and melodic hooks. Great production by the way, done by Dirk Miers at De Studio in Asse, Belgium. It seems like Said And Done finally found the perfect production for their style.

All of the songs on this release are good. I don’t know if they selected only the best ones to be released or if this was simply all the material they had before they recorded, but it surely raises the bar for their next release. People that buy the 7” will only have 4 songs, but they get a free downloadcard for the other two tracks that are also on the MCD: ‘Day In, Day Out’ and ‘Isolation’. Especially that last track is worth checking out. Very threatening atmosphere and the lyrics are so true.

All in all, this is a very cool release. So check Said And Done out on their MySpace and pick up this 7”/MCD. You won’t regret it. And we know where Said And Done will be heading after this release: Into the distance. The endless roads.
