Waking The Dead - Empire

posted by: Roelof666 on 13 April 2010

Own release

Empire is the third recording by Waking the Dead, after a tape and a split-cd with The Shining. For those who have heard these previous efforts (or bands, for that sake), you’ll possibly know what to expect on this one; kick-in-the-nuts-thrash. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, it sounds outdated and yes, it is somewhat predictable, but who cares. The love and passion for old eighties thrash spits out of my speakers. And that is more important than a fully triggered and a ‘we know pro-tools, but live we’re shit’ production. It just makes it more aggressive altogether. And my smile bigger listening to it.

It is simple; Waking the Dead delivers seventeen short thrash outbursts with in your face lyrics. If you are into eighties crossover thrash, you can pick this up blindly. Excellent music to bang your head on, get drunk on and to crash parties, nice!
